Setting a Default Dashboard Date for Shared Dashboards

Updated this week

Overview

This new feature allows admin users to determine a default dashboard date for a given dashboard that’s shared to other users. The key takeaway here is that this setting is per dashboard. This is not a default for all dashboards in a Cobalt account. Also note, as the name of this articles implies, that this only applies to shared dashboards created in admin console.

Steps

  1. Visit Admin Console

  2. Create or visit a dashboard

  3. Click on the date picker

  4. Select the Manage Default Date option (it’s at the way bottom of the menu)

  5. Select a period to be the default. Save.

Revert to Default Date

It’s possible for main app users, whom the dashboard is shared with, to change the dashboard date in their instance of the dashboard. Furthermore, Cobalt will remember each user’s individual selection (i.e. if the user logs out and returns to that dashboard, Cobalt remembers their last selection).

For this reason, main app users can use the “Revert to Default Date” option in their dashboard, so that the dashboard date can be put back in sync with the default set by the admin user. See an example of this below.
